Material Information: The antibacterial and self-cleaning nature of alpaca fibre is resistant to absorb odours and perspiration, thus washing is not necessary. The thermoregulating function of alpaca enables you to wear this product in cold and warm temperatures, as it naturally adjusts to your body temperature. Alpaca knitwear is up to five times warmer and more durable than regular wool products, as it is more resistant to pilling, wrinkling, felting, shrinking and ignition, than other natural fibres. Alpaca knitwear is hypoallergenic and therefore suitable for allergy sufferers, as it is naturally free of lanolin and other oils found in sheep’s wool. The term baby alpaca describes the young alpaca’s first shorn fleece as well as the fine downy undercoat of the alpaca. Therefore baby alpaca is not shorn from small baby alpacas.
Care: Alpaca fibre is anti-bacterial & resistant to absorb odours & perspiration. Therefore avoid washing as much as you can, air by the window, handwash (30°C), avoid, wringing, cold rinse, lay flat to dry, dry cleaning wash.
Sustainability: No harsh chemicals are needed to process alpaca fibre, making alpaca ranching 100% natural and safe for the environment. Alpaca naturally regrows every year and is classified as a very durable and therefore a highly sustainable and long-lasting fibre. With proper care, alpaca is virtually indestructible and can be worn for years, reducing the unhealthy demand for new products. The sweater is designed by Eliza Helmerich for R.EH Germany and made by a small family-run business in Peru. For each sale, 5€ is donated to La Escuelita e.V., a German non-profit organisation that offers free basic education for children and a socio-environment for Peruvian families suffering under financial hardship.
